The Otways is one of the most spectacular parts of Australia, with stunning drives along the Great Ocean Road - voted the best drive in Australia. It also has a vast hinterland of forests and plains.
It has wild seas. Brilliant blues. Moody greys. Steep drops to the rocks. Haunting dawns. Rainbows in storms. It also has ancient forest - the Mait's Rest walk is as good as any forest walk in Australia. The Otway Fly treetops walk is the highest in Australia. Breathtaking.
Drives are a treasure finding expedition. Huge gums, vineyards, lost redwood forests, over 50 waterfalls and more. The area near Kennett River is the best place to see Koalas in the wild, of anywhere in Australia. The forest is full of birds from tiny finches to wedge-tailed eagles. The area to the north has red volcanic rocks and historic old towns.

Colac is about 2.3 hrs from Melbourne.
Adjacent Locations
The 12 Apostles and Lorne are outside the Otway Tourism area and are not eligible for entry. Both can be reached by a stunning drive along the Great Ocean Road.
