Meet the Otways In Focus Judges
Our Judges come with a wide range of perspectives. Some are experienced judges within camera societies in Australia. Some are local, some are closer to Melbourne. Several have international judging experience. Some are from the tourism community.

Dr Bert Hoveling

Bert was President of the Australian Photographic Society from 2006 to 2008, and is also a Past President of the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies, and the VIGEX International Salon of Photography. He has judged photographic competitions at State, National and International level, including the 2007 International Colour Awards “Masters Cup” and the “2008 SONY World Photography Awards” for both professional and amateur photographers.

Peter Mitchell

Peter brings a clear tourism perspective to the competition. Peter and his wife Corinne operate the highly successful Deck House at Wye River. They are sponsors of this competition and the previous competition. Peter originally conceived a high standard Otways wide photographic competition several years ago and has contributed to the scoping of the current competition. |

Darren Chirgwin

Darren is the Executive Officer of Otways Tourism. He is in charge of the admistration of tourism in the toursim area that takes in Colac Otway Shire. He has wide experience in tourism operations. He has a good understanding of the use of imagery in supporting tourism operations. |

Dr Duane Eaks
AAPS

Duane has been the President of the Ivanhoe Photographic Society for the past 10 years. His photography ranges from landscapes to studio portraiture. He has had numerous acceptances and awards in local, national and international photographic competitions. Also, he has had considerable experience in judging photo competitions.
Duane was winner of the 2008 inaugural Otway Coast Photo competition and has provided valuable guidance to the 2009 competiton committee.

| John Riches |

John is a member of AIPP, and past president of AIPP in Melbourne. He has taught photography to students for many years at a leading Melbourne photography school and has had work exhibited at the National Gallery of Victoria. He has a continuing interest in landscape photography.
John is also a member of Otways Tourism Board representing the Apollo Bay Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.
