An Accidental Beginning

The first Otway photo competition was run in 2008 by Otway Coast Tourism, which covers the spectacular part of coast between Wye River and Wongarra.  It started spontaneously when members of Ivanhoe camera club visited Wongarra Heights Guesthouse in Easter 2008, and on a whim, manager LeeAnne Koenig proposed the competition.

The fabulous 38 entries received exceeded the expectations of tourism members and it was decided that the competition should run annually across all of the Otway region, with entry open to all comers. 

The 2009 competition has been designed with the support of leading figures in the photographic community and tourism members have responded generously with sponsorship.

2008 Winner

The winning entry was 'Great Ocean Road, Wongarra Heights' by Duane Eaks, president of the Ivanhoe club. 

He won a two day stay at the luxury Deckhouse at Wye River.
